Kisli Zone

Kisli zone in Kanha national park is oldest safari zone of Kanha national park. Till year 2014, it was part of Kanha Zone and since 2014, forest department carved out Kisli zone, from Kanha zone. Forest area falling in this zone is considered to be very scenic and photogenic. When Kanha national park was not much popular among visitors then only one safari zone was open for visitors, called Kanha zone. During that period, very few tourists use to come in this wildlife destination. With the passage of time, Kanha national park attained more and more popularity and thus tourists arrival also increased. After this, Mukki zone was introduced to visitors with separate entrance gate called Mukki gate, 40kms from Khatia gate. Later in year 2012, Forest Department introduced concept of Premium and Non-premium zones in which Kanha zone was declared premium zone and rest of the safari zones were put under non-premium category. This caused safari cost difference also. Cost difference was causing adverse effect on Kanha tourism thus Forest Department decided to carve out some part of Kanha zone and give it new name and put it in non-premium category and thus Kisli zone was created. It has also resulted into better management of national park. Popular Khatia entrance gate lies in Kisli zone. Same gate is used to visit Kanha safari zone. Kisli zone is very well explored by safari guides and thus here tiger sighting probability is also high. In this zone, can find animals like Indian Gaur, Hard-ground Barasingha, Sloth Bear, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Jackal, Wolf etc.
